Day 6

Thursday 20th July, 2023

Whilst it’ll be sad to say farewell to our Castle home at Fyvie, the promise of golf at the original home of The Ryder Cup, and a nights stay at one of England’s great Open rota courses, awaits.

Gleneagles is simply one of the greatest names in the world of golf, and as recent hosts of The Ryder (2014) and Solheim Cups (2019), it’s easy to see why. Designed by the legendary James Braid, the heather and heathland based King’s Championship Course has enthralled golfers for a hundred years with 18 regal holes you’ll want to play again and again.

After our round we’ll journey to Royal Lytham & St Annes where we’ll be treated to a three course dinner in the grand dining room. Following dinner, the panelled snooker room and wondrous golfing memorabilia await you. With an enjoyable nightcap on hand at the bar and your comfortable Dormy Home room to collapse into.

Please note: a jacket and tie are required for dinner service.

Our final playing round of SCOTLAND - ENGLAND 2023 is one off the bucket list. After fuelling up with a cooked breakfast in the grand dining room, we will be treated to one of the best and toughest tests in golf. Renowned as one of the best designed links courses in the world with 174 strategically positioned pot bunkers peppering the fairways and surrounding the greens, lying in wait for errant shots. The Course has a charm all of its own, flanked by a railway line and surrounded by suburban housing. It is a Links Course that is away from the sea yet close enough for the sea breeze to have an effect on one’s game and was aptly described by Bernard Darwin, the leading golf writer of the thirties, as ‘a beast of a Course, but a just beast’.

Following the round we will head down the coast to Liverpool, our home for the next three nights.
